Cento’s San Marzano has one of the best tomato flavors around creating a soft, mellow and amazing sauce. This brand of tomatoes can be hard to find but they are well worth the hunt. We have made this pizza both in the oven and on the grill; our favorite is the wood fired. We convert our 22″ Premium Weber grill into a pizza oven with use of the Kettle Pizza insert. The secret to a successful wood fired pizza is getting the temperature over 600 degrees. We purchased the Weber’s Greatest Hits recipe book from Lowe’s and have been trying the Fan Favorites. Colonel Stewart Navarre, Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, California submitted this recipe to Weber’s grilling contest in 2006. Last night we made Combat Steaks; they were tender, flavorful and mouth-watering. We made two small modifications to the recipe/directions; we used strip steaks instead of ribeyes and melted the blue cheese in with the mushrooms before topping the steak.
